Bettyjo had her diversion funnel removed from her esophagus this morning. She and I both thought that she would be put under for the procedure however, she was not so it was pretty scary for her having a six inch funnel pulled from her mouth. Everything went very well. When I left the hospital she was in good spirits, was relieved from some of the pain of the funnel being in there. While she still requests that you not call her, she was much more able to talk, and do it pain free.
Tomorrow, she will have the trach removed, and they are hoping to get her back on her feeding tube, and off the TPN. The plan is for her to come home on Friday.
Please pray that this procedure works and that she is finally on her way to total healing.

It might seem its almost the end of the world, you have been through a lot in the last several months. Perhaps things are improving so ever slowly. Your fighting the great fight of all, and its very painful and hard, but I know there is happiness down the pipeline. It might be tomorrow or it might be another month, We all like to take things for granted and well that is why we are so broken from our comfort zone as we dont know what to expect.
I know GOD is working quite hard with you and the family, and he will continue to do so.
Much prayer
Ernie
Whoa! They didn't put you under? Bettyjo, I'll bet your mind was going a mile a minute during that whole procedure. And Bob, you were there watching? These are the kinds of stories you don't want to be able to tell your grandkids! We will keep praying for healing, of course. And I'm glad that there's less pain and that talking is easier. Any relief is good relief.
Love, Vicki
