Bettyjo Update

We received the very worst news possible last night. Bettyjo's options are 1) a tube can be inserted past the hole so that saliva will not go down it, and "hopefully" it will heal. 2) they can take her stomach out attach it to her arm and attach it to he side and slowing stretch her stomach to make a new complete esophagus. 3) she can give up. They will put in a permanent feeding tube, and she will never eat or swallow again.

I am not going to ask for prayer at this time, because it seems that God will do what God will do, and I guess we will just have to accept it. Maybe prayer is really accidental anyway.

This is a sad day to say the least. I can't imagine the hurt you are feeling. However, I can't imagine that God would just leave it that. I see hope where you may not. I see hope in that there are options still (although they are horrible). And where there are no physcial options of hope, I know there are miracles. I can understand why you feel the way you do about the prayers. During this very difficult time, we as a church family will continue in petitioning God on your behalf. We love you so much.

I'm crying with you,
Robin

We can understand why you feel this way, Bob. We have no understanding as to why these things have had to happen. We hope you can feel our love for you, Bettyjo and the girls. We will continue to pray for you that somehow you will be able to see God's love, his power, and his care for you even in these dark valleys.

Love,
Rob & Doris

Bob, i believe you have the right to feel that way, God then What? I am reminded of Mary and Martha, they had the same question to question, Jesus if you had been there...( and you call yourself Lazarus friend, i believe thats what they meant). But Remember Jesus even knowing the state Lazarus was in, yet He stayed 3 more days until the situation looked out of hand and nothing else left or no hope. Then He decided now lets go and see our friend Lazarus, very well knowing what had happenned. He actually said this would glorify God and son. We as a church and friends will continue to pray for the Third day is not yet come.

I sense some frustration, know that GOD will NOT allow us to endure something that we CANT overcome. while the news is not positive, i am hoping and praying that in time that things will appear to be on a positive note. HANG in there.. yourself and the family I know this is heartbreaking... Even so strong hearts along with faith, will and is the medicine that we need today. I hope the next post shows some sign of an improvement.

We're very sorry to come back to this bad news, Bob, but as others have mentioned already, we will also continue in our prayer and petition on your families' behalf. You are right however, in that God is sovereign and although we are all part of his plan it is often not clear what He is doing, or not, in our lives and certainly not the why of it all. You all will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.

Oh, Bob and Bettyjo, this is such difficult news. I'm with Robin, I can't imagine how you must be feeling. And I like so much what Phil and Lucy said. For me, the biggest faith struggle isn't believing that God is there. It's believing he cares about us. You are right - he will do what he will do, but hold on tight to the truth that he loves you and Bettyjo. He does and he will see you through this. I'm so very sorry. Love, Vicki
PS Reuben posted something earlier but it didn't show up.

Bob & BettyJo,
I was so sorry to read about this new development - we are grieving with you and I think that your pain and questions are very valid. I thought about you during our team's Easter service yesterday when we sang and talked about the resurrection power over death. You're not seeing that in the way you would like and we're not seeing it to the extent that we long to see it displayed in Thailand. Yet we're called to believe that it's there - that it exists and is powerful and will be revealed for God's glory. We'll continue to pray for you - thanks for keeping us updated.

Bob & Bettjo

You guys have been constantly in our thoughts. We really do not know what to say. I do not feel worthy to make any comments because we are not in your situation and we have not expereinced all the pain and dissappointments you have in the last year. Giving advice would make me no better than Job's friends. All we can say is that we love you and are thinking about you. Call anytime to talk!
